Deposits
Deposits are in early access. If you don’t see Money owed → Deposits, they aren’t turned on for your store yet.
If your store is on Shopify Plus, use Shopify’s own deposits on payment terms where you can.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Create the order as a draft order for the company location, as usual.
- In Money owed → Deposits, enter the draft order number and the deposit: a percent of the subtotal or a fixed amount.
- Termpact sends the buyer a separate deposit invoice with a payment link. The deposit isn’t taxed and has nothing to ship.
- When the buyer pays the deposit, the original draft gets a discount called “Deposit received — PO …” for the deposit amount, and its invoice is sent for the rest.
- When the buyer completes the main order, the deposit is settled.
So the deposit and the remainder are two orders in Shopify, and the total is counted once.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- One deposit per draft order. Cancel it (with a reason) to start again; its payment link stops working.
- A deposit can’t be requested while the location is on credit hold or would go over its limit.
- If the main draft is completed or deleted before the deposit is paid, Termpact can’t apply the discount; settle it by hand.
